Question by sarah: Is there a link between child abuse and drug abuse?
I was just curious, if I person is abused as a child (sexually, emotionally, physically) then will it lead to substance abuse (drugs, alcohol, etc.) later in their life?

No, drug abuse is a choice. In drug rehabs and therapy these days they almost encourage people to “remember” the abuse.. it MUST have happened. Even if it didn’t.

Bottom line, even the most abused, neglected child can overcome it and become a successful person. Choosing drugs and then blaming it on the abuse is a cop out.

I wasn’t abused or anything, but definitely have “daddy issues” I guess I used to take pills very heavily in high school. Out of high school, five years later, I feel like I could easily slip into alcoholism if the circumstances are right. I really have to watch out with my intake.
