real simple

substance abuse is using substances other than for its intended form…abusing it
no matter what it is…beer… wine… crack…cigarettes

substance addiction is being addicted to a substance whether you only think you need it or you physically do

substance dependency is being dependent on a substance again whether thinking you do or actually do… usually hand in hand with the term addiction

Answer by Andre
substance abuse- using too much of a certain substance, (ex, drinking too much, smoking too much)
Substance addiction- you body is addicted to a certain substance, you literally cant go with out the substance or your body goes crazy. (ex. alcoholics, Tobacco smokers are all addicted to tobacco)
substance dependency- this is like substance addiction, because you body depends on it.
