Question by gagirlofgod: I live in the state of Georgia and I need to know my legal rights on a certain subject…?
I just found out that my sister is on drugs again and has her 5 year old daughter in a situation where i believe she may be being molested and i need to know as and aunt what can i do to help this child… I have done everything i can to help the mom even put her in rehab and she is now right back at it again. I cannot continue to watch her distroy her little girls life. What can or should i do?

We can notify or speak with your state’s social services concerning the child at least and let them work from there. Sometimes tough love is what it takes to get others to wake up even though many never do.

As the girls aunt you do not have any legal rights, but if you contact Child Protective Services and they think it is necessary to remove her from the home, they may consider letting her stay with you instead of a foster home, if you wish to take her. Hope this helps, good luck.
