My Brother Violently Attacked Me.. Is There Anything I Can Do? Please Help?
Question by EmilyC: My brother violently attacked me.. is there anything I can do? Please Help?
My brother is completely out of control. He is on parole in Washington state for breaking out of his rehab facility, drinking under aged, using drugs, stealing a car and then trying to escape from police when they started following the car. He is a really messed up person and yet my parents think that now that he’s out of rehab he is the prized child of the family (May I mention that I was valedictorian of my high school class and now attend Villanova University, a nationally recognized and highly ranked school). We are all home for the holidays and my parents refuse to acknowledge his abhorrent, reckless, and out of control behavior. When he lived here before they refused to even acknowledge his drug addiction until he almost killed himself my sister by jumping out of a window when she was standing at the bottom. Anyways, last night after my parents and sister went to bed, my brother was watching tv really loudly. My room is close to the tv, so I asked him if he could turn it down since I was trying to go to bed. He snapped and started screaming at me, saying I didn’t deserve to be his sister or be part of the family. He then threw the remote control at full speed at my head, and started reaching for another thing to throw at me. I ran away as fast as I could to avoid getting killed. I can’t get anyone to listen to me, but he is clearly out of control. What can I do? Should I call his parole officer? I can’t keep pretending this is ok, he’s putting me and my entire family in danger.

Call the Police and report this incident. You should also tell your parents what he did to you.
