Substance Abuse Counselor Assistant Job Help!!! PLEASE?

Question by Crystal: Substance abuse counselor assistant job help!!! PLEASE?
I am a student who is majoring in psychology with an concentration in substance abuse. I have a half a year left before I complete my BA and I am trying to get experience but I am having trouble. I already tried to get a unpaid internship at substance abuse centers and I keep getting the brush off and the run around. I am almost to the point of giving up because no one wants to give my the opportunity to learn and advance in this Field.

WANTED TO know if anyone else has any idea’s that could help me. I am from Maryland and if you know of anyone I could contact that could hep me out thanks…

You may find it easier if you concentrate on the abuse of specific substances.
You could try goats cheese or objects made from a specific timber, such as teak or mahogany.
Then there is a good supply of liquid substances like bitumen, yak milk, old engine oil, treacle.
Bishop’s sweat is not to be recommended as it is impossible to find these days since young boys have been protected much better.
You might look at brown gravy, tyre rubber scraped of the road, blacksmith’s anvil particles etc. You have a whole world to go at.

Just a word to the wise not to necessarily trust anyone from a message board or chatroom as no one really knows who is behind the monitor 😉 I was under the impression that in order become a certified addictions counselor, one is required to have a certain amount of clinical experience and didn’t realize how difficult it may be for someone to get placed. How about considering non-profit drug/alcohol treatment programs such as ones that get state and county funding.
