Whats the Fastest State to Be a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor?
Question by Marcial: whats the fastest state to be a certified substance abuse counselor?
I live in California. I just started the substance abuse certificate program at my community college. I am looking to move out of state within a year. I know different states have different rules to being a counselor. If certain states offer being a substance abuse counselor faster than others, I might consider moving to those states. So far with no info at all I am considering… oregon, arizona, colorado, and texas.

Talk to the Certification Board for Addiction Professionals in your state about becoming certified. Most states require a certain number of work hours in order to take the written exam. Some states offer multiple levels of certification that depend on your educational background and the time you’ve spent working as a substance abuse counselor.
California, oregon, arizona, colorado, and texas they are all good state to be a certified substance abuse counselor.
Working as a substance abuse counselor can be a demanding but very rewarding occupation. The counselors work with abusers during their recovery time and later help them adjust to a clean lifestyle.
Good luck and take care as always……..
